The current research and focus areas of the UEM GSI (Intelligent Systems Research Group) involves the Information Retrieval Intelligent Systems area, comprising some elements of Textual Analysis Content (operations like information retrieval, categorization, summary generation) using ontologies and mobile devices elements like context access. The GSI Group is interested on and has significant experience supporting research in the use and evaluation of these technologies in health environments. The GSI Group has participated in several funded research projects related to the former areas, participating in consortia formed by universities, software development businesses like Gesfor, Bitext, Answare Tech or ISOCO, and final users like Agencia Efe, Diario ABC, and Hospital Universitario de Fuenlabrada, as well as other european institutions like the Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale (Pisa, Italy), Sheffield University (U.K.) and Telefonica I+D (Spain). These projects have been funded by different institutions like Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, Ministerio de Industria, Comunidad de Madrid, and the European Comission, through different R&D programmes.
